Why this comparison matters: A B.Arch is not a regular bachelor's degree — it's a 5-year professional degree that leads straight to licensure, unlike a 4-year B.A./B.S. in Architecture that then needs a separate 2–3 year Master's. The decision that quietly reshapes a student's high-school timeline is the portfolio: Pratt expects polished creative work at the door (a junior-year-of-high-school commitment), while Virginia Tech builds design skill from scratch on campus (an academics-first path). Same license at the end — very different runway to get in.
